Our Exterior Timber Stabiliser has had a makeover and is now called Log Cabin & Decking Treatment. It’s the same ultra high performance exterior hardwax oil, just with a different name, and it now comes in a tin. No more spillages from pouring into a paint kettle, in fact, no further need to pour into a paint kettle just apply straight from the tin, it’s also easier to stir to mix all the ingredients, so now an even dispersion of colour right through the tin.

An oil based treatment blended with Paraffin and Carnauba wax, plus a special blend of high performance resins, mixed to our own unique recipe, our Clear Timmersol Log Cabin & Decking Treatment offers the ultimate protection for your log cabin, decking, garden furniture, gazebos, sheds, summerhouses, exterior doors, window frames, and any other exterior timber products.
It contains added UV protection to slow down the damage and graying effects of the UV rays of the sun.
It is one of the only treatments still readily available that effectively seals the exposed end grain of log cabins preventing them from leaking in the corners, and seals the end grain of decking preventing premature rotting of the boards.
It slows down and regulates the ingress and egress of moisture throughout timber, preventing movement related issues such as gapping between the log in the walls of a log cabin, excessive expansion lifting the roof and floorboards, prevention of twisting and warping to log cabin logs, log cabin flooring, and decking.
It can be applied over any existing paint or woodstain (see below).
Whilst we recommend a preserver is applied to untreated timber prior to the application of our Log Cabin & Decking Treatment, the hydrophobic properties of our treatment will help reduce the risk of rot by regulating the moisture content of the timber.

Unlike many of our competitors we still use traditional non-dearomatised solvent in our Log Cabin & Decking Treatment which means our product is one of very few available that retains its full performance capabilities. This allows our Log Cabin & Decking Treatment to be applied over any existing paint or woodstain and the oil and wax will still penetrate into the timber. This is how it works:
When water based paint or woodstain is wet the resin is suspended in water and a small amount of slow drying solvent.
The water evaporates before the solvent. The remaining solvent causes the outer surface of the droplets of resin to become sticky. As the solvent evaporates the droplets of resin bond together and harden, a process known as curing.
When our Log Cabin & Decking Treatment is applied over the cured finish the solvent causes the droplets of resin to unbond and become liquefied again. This allows the oil and wax to pass through and penetrate the timber beneath.

How much do I need?
1 litre covers up to:
- Smooth planed wood: 12m2
- Rough sawn wood: 8m2
- Redecoration: 12m2
Usage Guide
A minimum of 2 coats are required but we recommend 3 coats for maximum durability. Apply to both the outside and inside of your building to maximise the performance of the unique 3 layer barrier system. Allow 8 hours drying time between coats.
preparation:
All surfaces should be clean and dry. Remove any Lichen, Algae, moss, or Mould prior to application. Ensure wood has been treated with a suitable wood preserver to prevent rot and decay. Test a small area first for colour. Cover the surrounding area and any glass on your building to prevent damage. Do not apply to bitumen felt as the solvent will damage the bitumen.
Colour:
The final colour will vary depending on the surface and number of coats. Always test a small inconspicuous area first prior to the main application.
Application:
Do not apply in temperatures below 5 degrees C. Shake / mix well before use, this product naturally separates and requires thorough mixing before use to ensure a consistent colour throughout application.
Brush:
Using a soft brush, load it with the treatment and using the long bristle edge of the brush apply in long even strokes. For log cabins a combination of 4 inch, 2 inch, and 1 inch brushes are best.
Spray
Timmersol Log Cabin & Decking Treatment is very non-viscous and as such is extremely suitable for application by sprayer. Always refer to the manufacturers instructions before use. Always cover the surrounding areas and any glass to protect against overspray. Clean any overspray immediately whilst still wet with White Spirit and a cloth. If any of the product is accidently spilled onto glass and left to dry it can be removed by first applying some White Spirit to the affected area then scrape the dried treatment off using a window scraper.
Cleaning and spillages
Reseal the bottle after use. Clean brushes and equipment by using either White Spirit or a proprietary brush cleaner. Clean any spillages immediately whilst still wet with a clean cloth and White Spirit.
